The Alpine region covers both NSW and Victoria and is not only the home of Australia's ski resorts but also some of the greatest roads with the best views in the country. 

Jindabyne is the base town on the NSW side and you can follow Alpine Way through Thredbo to the Victorian border.

The Victorian side has the Great Alpine Way, not to confuse that with NSW's Alpine Way, as well as the Omeo Highway.
