Wisemans to Finchley Campground

This overnight ADV ride is perfect for anyone who wants a taste of adventure without diving straight into the deep end of the Watagans. Starting from Wisemans Ferry, this route takes you through some of the most enjoyable beginner-friendly dirt in NSW, with great scenery, good coffee stops, and just enough sand and gravel to keep things interesting.

From Wisemans, the ride rolls gently into St Albans — a classic entry point for riders building confidence on loose surfaces. Expect off-camber corners, wandering gravel and the occasional moment where your bike feels like it’s questioning its life choices… all part of the fun.

Continuing north, the route takes in Murray’s Run, a favourite for new adventure riders. Beautiful, flowing, and confidence-building, this stretch mixes sealed and dirt sections and offers an easy pace without sacrificing the views. If you’re fresh to ADV riding, this road leaves you feeling like you’ve genuinely achieved something.

Lunch at Wollombi breaks the day nicely before heading toward Yango Creek Road, eventually climbing up Finchley Track. It’s an approachable ascent — straightforward for experienced riders, but a great challenge for developing skills. The reward is the Finchley Lookout, with sweeping views across Yengo Country.

The campsite itself, Finchley Campground, is small and basic but perfectly positioned for a relaxed overnight adventure. Bring your own gear, expect cool temperatures, and enjoy a proper bush night under the stars.

If you’re looking for a scenic, low-pressure adventure ride with just enough spice to build confidence, this overnight route is a fantastic option. A great mix of dirt, views, history, and classic country stops — ideal for beginners and a chilled weekend escape for everyone else.

Membership is free and you can store and share your rides.
