Moonbi Lookout sits above the Moonbi Range on the New England Highway — a perfect pull-in for riders climbing out of Tamworth toward Bendemeer or looping the backroads of New England. The view stretches across the valley and escarpment, but the lookout also carries a bit of history: the Moonbi Range was once a notorious test for early travellers, including Cobb & Co stagecoaches, which struggled up the steep, winding ascent long before bitumen made life easy.
It’s a great spot to take a breather, check the map, and look out over country that’s challenged riders and travellers for more than a century.
