Marree is where the outback properly begins — a frontier town sitting at the junction of the Oodnadatta Track and the Birdsville Track, making it one of Australia’s great adventure-riding gateways. Roll in and you’ll find old Ghan railway relics, camel history, quirky characters, and that unmistakable feeling that the bitumen has finally given up.

For riders, Marree is fuel, food, stories, and a deep breath before heading into the true “middle of nowhere.” It’s the classic staging point for anyone taking on the desert tracks, with big skies, red dirt, and a sense of history baked into every rusted sign and abandoned railway carriage.
