Jindabyne is the beating heart of the Snowy Mountains riding scene — a lakeside town surrounded by alpine roads, dirt tracks, river crossings, and some of the best adventure riding in Australia. Whether you’re heading toward Barry Way, the Alpine Way, the Snowy River, or the High Plains, chances are your route passes through here.
The town itself is well set up for riders, with fuel, gear, accommodation, pubs, cafés, and supermarkets all close together. It also carries a fascinating history: the original town now sits beneath Lake Jindabyne, flooded as part of the Snowy Hydro Scheme in the 1960s, with the current town rebuilt higher up the hill. A brilliant basecamp for exploring the mountains in every direction.
