Ambyne Suspension Bridge is a hidden gem tucked deep in the Deddick Valley, reached via quiet, winding backroads that feel a long way from anywhere. The narrow pedestrian bridge stretches across the river, surrounded by steep bushland and that unmistakable sense of isolation the Snowy River country is known for.
What makes it even more interesting is its connection to the nearby McKillops Bridge — parts of this suspension bridge were built using materials from the original McKillops Bridge after it was washed away in floods. It’s a small but meaningful link to the region’s rugged history and the constant battle with these wild rivers.
For riders, it’s less about crossing and more about the journey to get there — remote tracks, river valleys, and very little traffic. A great spot to stop, take photos, and enjoy the stillness before continuing deeper into the backcountry.
