Day 0: Welcome to Lombok!
Your accommodation in the capital city of Lombok, Mataram, will be booked for you. Here, you can check in, relax, and prepare for your adventure beginning the next day.
Meet with the Indo Dirt crew and jump on your KLX230Rs for any ergonomic alterations.
We will all head out to a beautiful local restaurant to enjoy a huge variety of Indonesian food.
Day 1 Riding: Run To The Hills – Mataram to Senaru
It’s a fair bit bigger than a hill, actually. Today we start up the volcano! We leave the city behind, heading northeast to begin our climb. Diverse trails will take us through numerous villages before we finally reach the town of Senaru, situated on the northern slopes of Mt. Rinjani. This is the starting point for many who climb to the crater rim or even the summit. Expect a mix of flowing single-track and some technical rock sections. Help is always on hand if required.
We’ll stop for lunch at a local Indonesian warung (a traditional eatery) halfway through the day. We’ll arrive in Senaru around 3 pm
In Senaru, we will stay in the most luxurious accommodation in the area, subject to availability. Prepare to be amazed. The altitude ensures fresh nights and crisp early mornings.
Day 2 Riding: On a High – Senaru to Sembalun
Let’s start the day with an early morning visit to Lombok’s most famous waterfall, Sendang Gile, where you can get the most powerful back massage you’ve ever had! Yes, you can get right into the action here.
On bikes by 10am, the route today takes us east through the Mt. Rinjani National Park to Sembalun. We’ll explore trails on the northern slopes of the volcano, taking in both majestic vistas and close-up views of the peak. We will visit the remote Mangku Sakti waterfall to cool off after a hard ride, getting us as close to the waterfall as possible on two wheels.
The village of Sembalun sits at an altitude of between 1200m – 1400m on the slopes of Mt. Rinjani, where mind-blowing views of the peak will remind us all of nature’s grandeur. You will literally feel the astounding terrain this day has to offer. Lunch will be in a local village on the way. We will ride a volcanic single track today all the way up to beyond 2000m+
We will stay overnight in comfortable mountain cabins in Sembalun and head out together for dinner and a few sneaky beers. The view of Rinjani’s peak from our accommodation is absolutely astonishing.
Day 3 Riding: From Magic to Monkeys – Sembalun to Tetebatu
From the unforgettable mountain village and magical vistas of Sembalun, we head northeast to the monkey-filled forests of Tetebatu. Today we descend around 1,000 meters in elevation through the Rinjani National Park on endless single-track and agricultural access trails. Throughout this tour, you will see authentic village life and experience the real Indonesia. A delicious Indonesian lunch will be served at a local village along the trails.
We will stay overnight in comfortable rustic traditional accommodation and have a night at Sama-Sama owned by a riding buddy of Indo Dirt. It’s a beautiful place with a pool, restaurant, beer, surrounded by amazing views of the Tetebatu region.
Day 4: Group Vote – The Go, or Slow, Show! – Tetebatu
Today, the group can choose from two options: Go or Slow.
Option 1 (Slow): A chilled day off the bikes in Tetebatu. We can take a walking tour through the rice fields and monkey forest, cool off in a waterfall, and meet with local villagers for food and drinks. Speaking of drinks, you may want to learn about tuak (too-ak), a fermented drink from the Aren sugar palm tree that can put you in a proper stupor, depending on how much you drink. There’s also a non-fermented version called tuak manis, which is non-alcoholic and comes straight from the tree like a tap!
Option 2 (Go): Gear up for a serious challenge on Tetebatu’s single tracks, discovering a remote swimming hole deep in the wild. We’ll carry lunch as we leave all amenities behind, entering a world of monkeys, mud, and sheer endurance. The goal is to climb as high as we can. It will be tough going—that is guaranteed.
Depending on the group’s size, both options may be available. We urge you to listen to your body on this day, not your ego.
Tonight we stay again in Tetebatu. You’ll sleep like babies—unless you’ve overdosed on tuak, in which case, you might be ‘driving the porcelain bus.’
Day 5 Riding: New Beginnings – Tetebatu to Senggigi
Hopefully, you’re rested for today’s challenge. Starting with rollercoaster, grippy single-track will soon reveal who is hungover and who isn’t. We’ll hold a hill-climb challenge to crown our ‘King of the Hill,’ who will receive the royal treatment when we reach our final destination, Senggigi. There will be many high-speed sections today, so caution is paramount—we want everyone to return safely. We’ll grab lunch on the trail and possibly find another hidden waterfall to enjoy.
After we all arrive safely at our hotel in Senggigi, you will have conquered The Rinjani 360, and you deserve to celebrate! Let’s clean up, put on our best boardies, and get spoiled with a massage, great food, and drinks to toast our group’s achievements! Do what you want, knowing you have a nice hotel to crash in for the night. This may be the end of your Lombok Enduro experience, but it is the beginning of new friendships, lifelong memories, and a fresh scratch for that itch we all have for off-road motorcycle adventure. We all deserve to be happy.
