When it's too wet to ride the Otways and the roads are covered in snow in the High Country, it's the perfect time to venture through Victoria's little deserts. If you've never visited the North West areas of Victoria, then you'll surprised by what we have install.

The little and big deserts of Victoria area unique mystical place. Great for exploring on motorbikes but equally wonderful to experience the history of an area once thriving with activity. What remains today are small towns, a shell of their former self, battling to survive in this ever changing climate.This tour will see us follow the South Australian and Victorian border from Frances to Murrayville. Perfect for enduro motorbike riders that love riding sand.Most of the tracks on this tour are sand, both compacted and soft. You’ll need considerable sand riding skills for this tour, this is not a tour for beginners.If you are curious about whether you have the riding skills to complete this motorbike adventure ride then perhaps you could have a read of our ‘Ride Difficult Ratings‘. DAY ONE
After a night camping (tent and mattress provided) at the Lake Charlegrark Caravan Park you’ll enjoy a big breakfast in anticipation for a big day of riding. We’ll follow the border track from Frances which snakes its way through farms with a mixture of sand tracks and the odd muddy section. We’ll visit the historic train station in Serviceton before we experience the more adventurous sandy riding terrain in the Big Desert Wilderness region. We’ll have a number of fuel stops along the way, your motorbike will need to travel approximately 100km between fuel stops.Lunch will be provided by Mile Munchin Adventures via our support vehicle on the route. Lunch will consist of making your own salad sandwich or roll, with a selection of muffins and cakes, washed down with soft drinks or water.Saturday night we’ll be staying at the Jacobs Well Retreat in Murrayville. You’ll enjoy a lamb roast and dessert washed down we a drink or three. Accommodation is shared rooms with their own bathrooms.

DAY TWO
After another big breakfast usually consisting of an egg and bacon roll, we’ll fill your motorbike tanks first thing in the morning and top you up at the lunch time stop with fuel from our support vehicle.The route home, while not as long as the Saturday’s ride will still provide you with a strong test of your skills and endurance. Riding once again in the sand, we’ll follow the border track crossing over hundreds of dunes along the way. The support vehicle will meet us for a well earned lunch and drink at our designated spot.We’ll arrive back at Lake Charlegrark Caravan Park mid afternoon so we can enjoy a quiet drink and reflect on the ride. It’ll also give you a chance to get on the road and back home a little sooner.

ACCOMMODATION DETAILS

For the LIttle Desert Dust Up Tour we camp on Friday night and stay at Jacob Well Retreat on Saturday night. Please bring a pillow, towel and sleeping bag for Friday night, everything is taken care of for Saturday night.

THIS RIDE IS SUITABLE FOR:

Single cylinder enduro/adventure bikes 250cc to 690cc. Experienced sand riders could ride a Tenere 700 or equivalent.

The Little Desert Dust Up motorbike adventure tour is designed to be enjoyed by motorbikes capable of being ridden on both road and off road tracks. Single cylinder motorbikes are best suited to the sandy trails, these can range from enduro 250, 300, 350, 450 & 500cc (KTM, Husqvarna, Sherco etc). Dual sport motorbikes like a DRZ400, KTM 690s and Husky 701 can be ridden but in the Little Desert Tour but you would need to be an extremely good rider. Depending on the weather the tracks can range from dry and dusty to wet and muddy, the sand can be soft and hard work.

PLEASE NOTE: This ride is suitable for experienced off road riders with intermediate to advanced riding ability. Full bike registration is recommended for this tour.
